Blue skies and acres of green were the perfect setting for Tammy and Owen’s wedding today. Held at the groom’s parents home in Eagle Creek, guests were treated to black and white decor, colorful flowers everywhere and a gorgeous day on the hillside. The bride’s parents were here from Wisconsin and other relatives attended from California and Arkansas. The newlyweds, both local artists, will enjoy a getaway at the Oregon coast before returning to their home in Milwaukie. Congratulations, Tammy and Owen, may your sweet energy nurture your marriage and bring many blessings your way. View slide show on next page. Continue reading “A Perfect Wedding Day!”

NEWLYWEDS … Again!
Amy and Jonathan are the kind of sweet people you just enjoy being around. So it was a sincere pleasure to perform their casual yet heartfelt ceremony Saturday afternoon. Especially knowing their story. It seems the couple married in Key West five years ago and all went beautifully … that is until the hurricane hit. As in Katrina. All their paperwork Continue reading “NEWLYWEDS … Again!”
Pick This Dress!
One flight up and down the hall – beautiful gowns await you. You’d never guess from the unassuming exterior on NW 17th that such splendor exists – so close yet a world apart from the Glisan traffic. Divine Designs has created an intimate and lovely experience for the bride to be and her lucky shopping companions. Terra cotta walls and arched doorways, comfortable seating and spacious rooms and we haven’t even gotten to the dresses yet! Bridal gown experts personally guide you through the selection process bringing out breathtaking choices one by one from their magical backroom. It’s such a better way to view gowns – much less overwhelming than trying to wade through a sea of satin on your own.
You will find the very latest in bridal designs with gowns starting at $2,000. The shop also carries a selection of bridesmaids and mother of the bride gowns. I can’t imagine a more lovely way to spend a few hours. Be sure to include this one on your “must call” list when you start looking for THE one.
Happy shopping, ladies!
Putting Spring in your Ceremony
A “Planting Ritual” is such a lovely addition to wedding ceremonies. Not only is it a green thing to do, it is a meaningful and mindful symbol of two families rooted in tradition coming together to witness their loved ones starting new growth as a couple. How simple and beautiful is that? And one of my favorite plants to use is Daphne. The pink blossoms and green leaves represent the colors of the heart and the fragrance is unbelievably sweet. It’s also one of the first shrubs to bloom – sometimes even as early as February.
After the ceremony, you can transplant your Daphne into your garden (it likes shade) or use in a container for your deck/patio. Put it near your entry or walkway so you can enjoy the fragrance as you walk by. It’s also perfect for snipping and using for indoor flower arrangements. The Wedding Cottage
UPDATE: The Wedding Cottage has moved to Multnomah Village and is now housed inside Peachtree Gifts. Petrel is still the owner and will greet you with a smile in her new digs. Click on the link below for details.
I stopped by the The Wedding Cottage in downtown Beaverton yesterday and had a delightful visit with owner, Petrel Chapman. What a sweetie. And what a fun place to shop! Custom invitations are the specialty of the house but Petrel does a great job making sure brides have lots of gifts and accessories to choose from as well. Items are cheerfully displayed throughout several sunny rooms and include everything from bridesmaid guidebooks to honeymoon flip flops. There are beaded cake servers and ceremony cuff links. Even a line of baby shower gifts.
As an officiant, I enjoy helping couples create meaningful rituals as part of their ceremony. So it was fun to see all the colored sand options that Petral is now carrying. I especially liked the heart shaped container. The glass stopper and metal stand make it an attractive decanter for the years ahead. Engraving is an option.
If you’re in the market for wedding accessories or invitations or need a cute gift for a guy or gal friend, check out this local favorite. You can also shop their store on line. Enjoy! Visit now.
Colors of the Heart
Did you know that the colors of the heart chakra (the 4th major energy center in our body matrix) are green and pink? A vibrant green with a crystal pink center. If you are thinking about wedding color combinations, you can’t go wrong with pink and green. Not only do they compliment each other beautifully, there are hundreds of shades of each to choose from. Soft pastels are perfect for dresses, cake icing and men’s ties. Splashes of hot pink or kiwi green are great for ribbons, sashes, and table decor. And florists will love that you’ve given them such a wide variety of flowers to work with … imagine the possibilities with tulips and roses alone.
And after the wedding, take your colors home. Pink and green lend themselves well to just about any space especially dining areas and bedrooms. And if you are in close quarters, you’ll find these colors easy on the eyes and comfortable to live with. Whether it’s a cozy table for two or accent pillows on a loveseat – this combo lasts the test of time.

FEATURED WEDDING – Leanne & Jesse
The bride was glowing and the bubbly was flowing … it was a festive and heartfelt Wedding Day for Leanne & Jesse. The beautiful Governor Hotel (now called The Sentinel) in downtown Portland was the scene of both the ceremony and reception which took place earlier this evening. Despite a film crew shooting on location in the lobby and on the rooftop – guests were treated to an elegant and flawless event. Congratulations to you both and may your smiles continue to light your life for many years to come. Continue reading “FEATURED WEDDING – Leanne & Jesse”
