I’ve heard lots of theories about the origination of the word “honeymoon” but the one I like best is this one. June is the traditional month of weddings (still THE most popular month to take those vows) and the full moon in the month of June is known as the “honey” moon. Goes back to ancient times when it was determined to be the best time to gather honey. Other months offer different titles for their full moons (grass moon, snow moon, harvest moon, etc.). But this is the time of the honey moon. Which finally explains the lyrics of the popular song “By The Light of the Silvery Moon” written in 1909 and the movie of the same title made in 1953 (my birth year). I used to sing it as a kid. “Honey moon, keep a-shinin’ in June. Your silvery beams will bring love’s dreams, We’ll be cuddlin’ soon, By the silvery moon.” Sweet! Wedding Music
Looking for just the right music for walking down the aisle? You can’t go wrong with Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks. And this recording by Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields is one of the best. Whether you are using a DJ or playing your own CD’s – keep this one in mind. Track 1 is perfect for the processional. This recording also includes Handel’s Water Music and just about any of that suite works well for your recessional. I especially like Tracks 9 through 11. Listen to samples and enjoy!
BRIDAL JITTERS
The bridal bouquet isn’t the only type of flowers a bride should care about. Flower essences (vibrational remedies) are wonderful gifts from nature that can take the stress and jitters out of wedding plans and the big day. Here are some that I recommend for the blushing bride – as well as the bridal party, family members and anyone else who can use a little calming down and chilling out. Visit the Vibrational Remedies page at this site for more information on how to use the drops for best results. Aquamarine – quiets the mind like a tranquil pool. White Chestnut – calms the mental chatter and turning wheels. Impatiens – helps soothe nervous tension and irritability. Vervain – relaxes the keyed up feelings so you can unwind and sleep.
